About

Sri Aadhi Varahi Amman is the presiding deity and the divine heart of this temple. Varahi is one of the Sapta Matrikas (Seven Mother Goddesses) and holds the exalted position of Dandanayaki — the commander-in-chief of the armies of the Mother Goddess Lalita Tripura Sundari. She is the boar-faced emanation of Shakti, representing the unstoppable force of divine will and protection. In the Sri Vidya tradition, Varahi is worshipped as one of the most powerful manifestations of the Divine Mother. She is believed to remove all obstacles, destroy negative forces, and grant unwavering protection to her devotees. Her worship is considered especially potent during the night hours and on Tuesdays and Fridays. At this temple, Sri Aadhi Varahi Amman is worshipped in her primordial (Aadhi) form, signifying her as the original and most ancient manifestation. Devotees seek her blessings for protection from enemies, relief from legal troubles, removal of black magic, and ultimate spiritual liberation.

Spiritual Significance

Varahi is the Shakti of Lord Varaha (the boar avatar of Vishnu). She is the granter of fearlessness, the destroyer of obstacles, and the protector of devotees from all unseen dangers. Worshipping her is said to bestow victory in all undertakings.
