About This Ceremony

Aadhi Varahi Jayanthi celebrates the divine manifestation day of Sri Aadhi Varahi Amman — the presiding deity of the temple. This is the most important and unique celebration in the temple's calendar, as it marks the day when the goddess is believed to have manifested in her primordial Varahi form. The celebrations begin with an early morning Maha Abhishekam using 108 pots of sacred water collected from various holy rivers and tirthas. The goddess is adorned in her most resplendent form with special jewellery, silk garments, and elaborate flower decorations that depict her various aspects. The day includes Varahi Sahasranama chanting by learned Vedic scholars, Varahi Homam (fire ritual with Varahi mantras), special cultural programs, and community Annadanam serving thousands of devotees. The celebration concludes with a grand Deepa Aradhana and procession of the goddess through the temple complex.
