Navaratri (Nine Nights) is the most magnificent and elaborate festival at Sri Aadhi Varahi Temple. For nine consecutive nights, the temple comes alive with special worship, music, dance, and community celebrations honoring the nine forms of the Divine Mother. Each of the nine nights is dedicated to a specific aspect of the goddess, following the traditional Sharada Navaratri sequence: the first three nights worship Durga (the destroyer of evil), the next three worship Lakshmi (the bestower of wealth), and the final three worship Saraswati (the granter of wisdom). The presiding deity, Sri Aadhi Varahi Amman, receives the most elaborate worship of the year during this period. The celebrations include daily Kumkum Archana, special Homams (fire rituals), Golu (display of sacred figurines), Vidyarambham (initiation of children into learning on Vijayadashami), and community Annadanam (free food service) on all nine days. The temple is decorated with thousands of oil lamps, flowers, and kolam designs.
Navaratri is the supreme festival for Shakti worship. The nine nights represent the goddess's battle against darkness and the ultimate triumph of divine light.
The presiding deity of the temple, the primordial mother goddess Varahi — one of the Sapta Matrikas and a commander of the divine armies.
