About the Ceremony

The Sahasra Chandi Maha Yagna is among the most grand, profound, and spiritually potent fire sacrifices (Maha Yagnas) described in the Vedic and Shakta scriptures. Spanning a full sacred Mandala period of 48 continuous days during the winter months of November, December, and January (the sacred Tamil months of Karthigai, Margazhi, and Thai), this monumental ritual invokes the supreme mother goddess Sri Maha Chandi and presiding deity Sri Aadhi Varahi Amman.

During this 48-day Mandala, a gathering of learned Vedic Ritwiks and Shakta scholars chant the sacred Durga Saptashati (Devi Mahatmyam from the Markandeya Purana) one thousand times (Sahasra Chandi Patham). Simultaneously, elaborate oblations of sacred herbs, pure cow ghee, and divine dravyams are offered into the consecrated Homa Kundams accompanied by the potent Chandi Navakshari Mantra.

Each day features specialized Abhishekams, Navakshari Japa, continuous Akhanda Deepam, and daily Maha Purnahuti. Thousands of devotees participate throughout the 48 days, receiving divine Theertham and Annadanam (sacred feast distribution).

The spiritual efficacy of the Sahasra Chandi Maha Yagna is revered across all traditions. It completely neutralizes severe planetary afflictions, destroys malefic forces and unseen obstacles, dissolves deep-rooted generational karmas, cures persistent ailments, and invokes universal peace (Loka Kshema) alongside immense wealth, success, and spiritual liberation.
