Sankatahara Chaturthi falls on the Chaturthi (4th day) of the Krishna Paksha (waning moon phase) each month. 'Sankatahara' means 'remover of difficulties' — this is the day when Lord Ganesha's power to dissolve obstacles is at its most potent. At Sri Aadhi Varahi Temple, the Sankatahara Chaturthi celebrations centre around Sri Uchishta Maha Ganapathy. Special Abhishekam with Panchamritam (five nectars), elaborate flower decoration, and the offering of Modakam (sweet dumplings — Ganesha's favourite food) are the highlights of the ceremony. Devotees observe a fast throughout the day and break it only after sighting the moon at night and completing the evening puja. The fast and worship on this day are believed to remove all forms of Sankata (difficulties) — whether financial, health-related, educational, or spiritual. The Ganapathy Homam (fire ritual) is also performed on this day for maximum efficacy.
This is the most powerful monthly occasion to invoke Ganesha's grace. Fasting and worship on this day removes even the most entrenched obstacles in life.
A rare and powerful Tantric form of Lord Ganesha, worshipped for the removal of all obstacles and the fulfilment of desires.
