About

Sri Rahu Bhagavan is one of the nine celestial deities (Navagraha) in Hindu astrology. Rahu is a 'shadow planet' (Chaya Graha) — the ascending lunar node where the moon's orbit crosses the ecliptic plane. In mythology, Rahu is the head of the demon Svarbhanu, who was beheaded by Lord Vishnu after sipping the nectar of immortality during the Samudra Manthan (churning of the cosmic ocean). Rahu's influence in a person's horoscope can bring sudden changes, obsessive desires, confusion, and material entanglements. However, when properly worshipped and his energies are channeled correctly, Rahu can also bestow extraordinary worldly success, fame, political power, and mastery over foreign lands and technologies. At Sri Aadhi Varahi Temple, Sri Rahu Bhagavan is worshipped alongside Sri Ketu Bhagavan. Devotees perform special pujas during Rahu Kala (the inauspicious time window ruled by Rahu each day) to convert this challenging period into one of divine protection. Worship is especially recommended for those undergoing Rahu Dasha or facing Rahu-related afflictions in their birth chart.

Spiritual Significance

Worshipping Rahu Bhagavan mitigates the malefic effects of Rahu Dasha and Rahu-related afflictions. It brings clarity, protection from deceit, and channels Rahu's energy toward positive material and spiritual outcomes.
